1996 VIDEO WITH STEVE COLLEY

Jordi Tarres continued his incredible winning streak and the new model designation of JTR honors Mr. Tarres with the words "Jordi Tarres Replica". 1996 was a motorcycle with many changes. The introduction of the new model JTR370 in 338cc again surpassed the previous big bore GASGAS model. The new "long stroke" 338cc engine produced more usable power at a lower RPM and won fans across the globe. The addition of a new model JTR270 saw the expansion of the cylinder bore on the previous 238cc model to a full 256cc. This reflected the work done by the Tarres team in the 1995 world championship. These new motorcycles were an instant success. Changes include new exhaust system, a redesigned chassis, completely new fuel tank, air box, and plastic body pieces, and Kokusan ignition. The 1996 Enduro season saw the successes of the famous rider from the UK, Paul Edmondson as he succeeded in winning the 250cc Enduro World Championship. This propelled the GASGAS EC250 into instant stardom. The new GASGAS designed and built engine featured a counter-balance shaft that made the motorcycle one of the smoothest and most vibration-free machines in the world. Making the machine easier to operate under the most severe conditions of the dark and moist forests of central Europe, while delivering a decisive power delivery in the dryer Mediterranean areas.
